Introduction
For my third apollo project this school year I decided to do my project on the presidents that I believe to be the most influential. This was a topic that interested me because I think it's important to learn about past presidents and what they did to help our country. After doing a lot of research, I decided that the three most influential presidents in are Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and Barack Obama.
History
For the history portion of my project. I created a sway that reflected the information I had gathered about the three presidents I chose. Through my sway, I give some background information about each of the presidents, and also explained their leadership abilities and gave my reasoning as to why I claimed each president to be influential. If you click on the button below it will bring you to the sway I created.
Art
For the art portion of my project, I made two cupcakes that represent different presidents. The first cupcakes I made represented Abraham Lincoln. I made a white cake with a cranberry filling and buttercream frosting. I decided to take white cake because the color white represents protection, encouragement, and peace, which I feel are good words to describe Abraham Lincoln's leadership during the Civil War. The white cake was a recipe made by Abraham Lincoln's wife, Mary Todd Lincoln. Since Lincoln was the first Republican president I thought it would be a good idea to incorporate the color red into my cupcake so I decided to do that using cranberries so they’re a red fruit. Cranberries also represent courage, which I feel is also a good word to describe Abraham Lincoln's leadership abilities. To decorate the cupcake I made a chocolate top hat to represent Lincoln's iconic hat. The second cupcake I made represented Teddy Rosevelt. I want to focus on representing his advocacy and passion for the outdoors so I used flavors that are associated with the nature. I made a lemon honey cupcake with a blueberry filling and a buttercream frosting. I used a lemon and honey cupcake because those were the first two flavors that came to my mind when I thought of flavors that represent nature. I decided to incorporate the blueberry filling because I found in my research that the color blue represents integrity, knowledge, power, and seriousness, which I thought were good words to describe Rosevelt. I decorated the cupcake with a little bee made out of sugar.
English
For the English portion of my project, I completed my Smart Futures requirements. The first thing I created was a student resume. A student resume is a summary of your studies and academic qualifications. In my student resume, I included my volunteering and work experience, sports, clubs, and academic achievements. You can read my student resume by clicking the button below on the left! The other thing I created was a college research paper. For my college research paper I researched colleges that I would be interested in attending. Throughout my research paper, I talked about three different colleges, Penn State, York College, and Pitt. The research paper helped me gain a better understanding of which college might fit me best, and what it would be like to attend each of those colleges.
