Introduction
For my second Apollo project this school year I chose to do my project about Ruth Bader Ginsburg. About a month ago, Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away. Ever since then, I have been very interested in learning about who RBG was and what she did for our country.
History
For the history portion of my project I focused on what RBG did while she was on the Supreme Court and what is going to happen to the Supreme Court now that RBG is gone. I decided to write a blog post that talks about Amy Coney Barrett, who is the Justice that President Donal Trump has appointed to succeed the seat of RBG on the Supreme Court. I compared Barrett's opinions to RBG's. I also talked about how a Supreme Court with mostly Republican Justices will affect our country. I included perspective into this piece by incorporating my opinion of some of the topics I discussed through the blog post such as abortion and same sex marriage. Language Arts
For the language arts portion of my project I wanted to focus on RBG's achievements and explain how she help everyone make strides towards equality. I decided to write three different journal entries in the perspective of different people. The first journal entry I wrote the first journal entry in the perspective of a 25 year old pregnant women. In this entry I talked about the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, which is prohibits discrimination against pregnant women in the workplace. The second journal entry was in the perspective of a 30 year old widowed man. In this entry I talked about what RBG did to help men achieve equal Social Security benefits and tax deductions. The third and final journal entry was in the perspective of a 16 year old female. In the entry I talked about the Equal Pay Act and how RBG helped women make great strides towards equal pay.
